    My right brake is literally hanging off and I’ve been having to sleep in my chair the past few days because I can’t transfer anymore. From this video I can’t tell if your bolts are the kind I have-there’s nowhere to put an allen key or anything to put the socket around. They’re totally smooth and rounded. What should I use?

    I did purchase one of these to try out. Didn't work for me, as it is not designed for every body proportion. I have short legs and average length trunk with narrow shoulders. The problem is that the arm bars, while they adjust up and down, they have a fixed angle. So the higher up they are, the wider apart they are. When I adjust these bars to the right height, they are too far apart for me and cause me to go in a zig zag as I walk. So make sure you can return the equipment, as it just doesn't work for every body dimension, only "average" builds.

    This method does not work on bucket seats with those HUGE sides sticking out and going RIGHT IN TO YOUR THIGH ....... u can not sit on the edge at all on those seats it will screw your nerves up complete and make u in to a handicapped person who cant walk , stand or lay down after a while of doing that :(

    Thanks for at least acknowledging that some of us buy these things because we have stenosis. I don’t have to sit down because I’m tired. My legs go numb. The last time I went into town with just a cane, I had a very scary experience, because I can go from fine to numb feet in a matter of seconds. With this thing, I can walk farther because I can hip hinge just a little, while maintaining alignment, and push my weight down into my hands, which relieves some of the compression. And I am very careful.

    • @yourPTguy
      @yourPTguy 8 дней назад

      Hi there, are you asking if a release will occur if you hear a noise like a pop? Sometimes people (myself included) can feel a pop when the joints get opened up more. When that occurs, it can be a bit of relief sometimes too. But the most important is just the positioning that is discussed which opens the space up more allowing the nerve to be freed up some.

    What is referred to at 1:10 as “Standard walker” is the first time I have heard it called standard in my decades of use. Those are generally referred to as a walker with wheels, a two-wheel walker, or at least a standard walker with wheels around here. A standard walker does not have wheels but rubber or silicone feet. Part of the safety is the full stop just by the walker being in position on the floor/ground. Then some adapt those to have wheels or tennis balls… never me, those are falls waiting to happen. In my experience, and also with most folks I know, those wheeled walkers are far more hazardous than a walker with 4 wheels and brakes. I’ve hurt myself more using them than a Rollator as there is no way to stop securely. Geesh, and those three wheel walkers, good demonstration. I don’t know how those were even manufactured; they are such an obvious fall risk even for folks who have decent balance. Yikes. The best thing about these are the ride capabilities for little kids. 😂 They are so fascinated by assistive devices. For some reason a Rollator is like a home theme park ride or something; there’s a seat and a handle bar, and someone to push. 😂 As an adult using one of these or a wheelchair since my early 20s, I have had my regrets about conning my relatives into lugging me around on crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs when I was little. I love the brownie points you’re earning by complimenting your wife’s cooking. 😊

    My husband is 74 and had a hip replacement. He had so much muscle atrophy prior to the fall that caused him to have the new hip, that it’s even worse. It’s been 5 months and he can still barely walk with his walker. Getting up out of bed is nearly impossible. We’ve put multiple pillows at each side for his hands to press onto but he can’t bend forward. I usually have to help him bend over nose over toes. He has no ab strength either. Your video assumes the person can get up by him or her self with no walker. That is the segment I would like to see. Are there handles I can install on the bed? Still, those won’t help him get up. He is 6’3” and lean. Even the wheelchair is too short for him (going to check if it can be modified higher per your other video). Any advice?

    I have been using a xtra large rollator for the past 9 months. At 6'4", even with the XL I am at the limit for handlebar extension and find that this puts me in a stooping stand rather than upright. Another issue is that living in an older semi rural environment the roads are sealed but rough and the footpaths are non-existent. Does anyone make larger wheen conversion kits? Easy enough to substitute on the back wheels, although I suspect the brakes would no longer function, but the front wheels sit inside the caster fork and would not readily accept a larger wheel.

    1,. Stand up against the car with hip or bum in constant contact. Car act as a brace, giving you stability even when you let go of walker handle. Brakes on to fold whheled one grat but keep your body against car so the minute you must release brake the car is there as support. 2. Tilt then slide into back seat area, use towel over edge if step has slip resistant covering. Easier than lifting. You can brace against car sideways or use open window to hold while tilting & sliding . To make sliding easier toss an old towel over car step to cover non slip covering most cars have plus it protect car from scratches. 3. Like open window idea 4. If at home loading, consider keeping a chair beside car to have to sit, fold, and even tilt and slide walker. Silly? Not at all, keep it level with back wheel of car. You can use it as guide when reversing into garage. If you can find light foldable one you can store chair in car.

It is deplorable that all these years since enactment of the ADA there is a plethora of buildings NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH IT! And people are really rude. they'll see you struggling open the door so they can enter or exit and not offer to hold it for you. Deplorable. Speak to that Doc.
